World’s trend of compostable bags

Tons of non-decomposable plastic waste are discarded everyday. This has made serious impacts on the global environment and human health. In order to change this, governments and enterprises in the world have taken a series of actions to help people turn to using self-decomposed products instead of plastic ones.

Many policies are adopted to change the plastic usage habits

According to a proposal submitted in the early of 2018, the U.K Prime Minister Theresa May were encouraging the elimination of using “avoidable” plastic by 2042. Supermarkets are also motivated to launch “non-plastic” booths. The new plan of the UK Government was released, aiming at building a greener and cleaner Britain.

In Europe, plastic usage habits is being changed as well. Several governments, including Luxembourg and Denmark, have imposed taxes on disposable bags.

Meanwhile, in German supermarkets, plastic bags and plastics are eliminated and replaced by reusable and more durable materials.

The scientists specified that the sunlight-free decomposition process of plastic bags can take from 500 to 1,000 years. Even when they have decomposed into the soil, polyethylene will make the soil inert and not keep water and essential nutrients for crops. Because of containing lead, cadmium,… (in the ink creating colors on packages), plastic bags can damage human brain, which is the major cause of lung cancer.

These harms make compostable bags become more familiar to citizens of developed countries like European countries. They systematically used and gradually favored as these products are better for human health and the environment.

Although the concept of “compostable bag” is quite new in Vietnam, the products are actively welcomed with the desire to change the habit of using conventional plastic bags into using compostable bags.

Moving forward to reach the same goal of environmental protection and becoming a green enterprise, AnEco was established at the time when global residents were changing their consumption habits to have greener lifestyles.

AnEco is 100% compostable products manufactured by modern production line of An Phat Bioplastics., JSC (AAA), a member of An Phat Holdings.

AnEco 100% compostable product is not only an alternative to conventional plastic bags, but also eco-friendly due to its compostable characteristic. It can tranform  into humus fertilizer, water and CO2 within six months of burrying under the ground as it is “eaten” by soil microorganisms.

The cooperation of the whole system and citizens

Recently, the Prime Minister has approved the Project on Strengthening the Control of Environmental Pollution due to The Use of hardly decomposed Plastic Bags in Daily Life by 2020. Accordingly, by 2020, the volume of hardly decomposed plastic bags used in supermarkets and malls will be reduced by 65% compared to 2010; the volume of hardly composed plastic bags used in local markets will be reduced by 50% compared to 2010,…

This will be an important changing step to make Vietnamese environment and citizens become healthier and safer.
